Welcome 2013--what's up?

Today we welcome in a new year.

It's kinda funny really.

It's funny how fresh, new, and crisp the new year feels. It's really just the next day, but it seems like a whole new start is opening up to us.

This year is ushering a lot of changes--probably more than I'm ready for!

Baby, motherhood, graduation, maybe moving to another state for a new job for Josh, and I'm sure a whole lot of other new things.

Looking ahead, ushering the new will also usher out some other stuff.

Like lots of Nicole-time, random coffee dates without thinking about getting a sitter, blogging a lot, having pizza night each week...etc.

I know that change always brings the need for adjustments, but I'm thrilled that baby boy will be the stirring of such changes!

Not only will this next year bring lots of life changes, but I wanted to let you know of some changes that I anticipate for this blog and my shop in 2013.

1.) After lots of thinking + realistically looking at the future, I decided that these next few months will be focused on selling out the items at Home for Hire {the shop} and not focused on adding new products. Although I love running my little shop, we need the extra storage, space, (and I'll need the extra energy) to make room for baby. I'm not just taking a leave (as in, closing shop for a few months and then starting it up again) because I don't want to place that expectation on myself. If I find that I need a creative outlet, then I'll revamp and focus on a few specific products. Maybe I'll have flash sales. Maybe I'll open up shop again. I'm giving myself the freedom to do what is best for my time and family.

2.) Since one of my part-time jobs has ended, I'd like to focus on creatively and purposefully using this blog as an avenue to generate a little extra income for our family. I'm not looking to make the big bucks, but I do want to work towards meeting some needs with writing on this little space :)

3.) I'm going to start a linky party this year! I'm not going to spill the beans quite yet about what it is all about, but I'm super pumped about it!!! I've been wanting to start a linky party for a while now, but always hesitated to make the jump. This year, I'm going for it!! I'll share more soon :)

4.) This one, well, I'm going to give myself a little extra grace with. But, I'd like to start doing monthly mini-series over a variety of topics. Of course, when our little one comes screaming into this world, I know that this may fall to the wayside. Still, I think it'd be fun to have a series over 2-4 days about specific topics and create a conversation around it. Again, I'm giving myself the freedom to step away from it if it gets too be too much, but I'd like to give it a try!!

I've got lots of other ideas a buzzing, but these are the few big ones!
