I Love Pumpkin Butter and I Cannot Lie...

When I pass the puree in the vegetable aisle...

Okay...enough rapping around here :)

Since I'm willing fall to come around here (yep, it went back to almost 100 degrees today in Texas), I decided that I would make pumpkin butter to tell the weather who's boss. This was the first time that I've ever made pumpkin butter, and it won't be the last!

I couldn't help but put the finished product in cute jars and make them a little pretty! I used things I had on hand--twine, linen, lace, and brown card stock! Simple and sweet :)

Unfortunately, I realized too late (and it was one of those weeks that I was NOT going back to the grocery store...again!) that I bought pumpkin pie mix and not pumpkin puree. Oops!

I still used the recipe I had on hand but reduced the amount of sugar and spices. I did a lot of spoon dabbing and taste testing until I thought it tasted just right.

Does it look like fall? Despite the fact that I was taking the pictures on a 100 degree day, I would say that at least looks like fall. I can't wait until it actually feels like fall!

Looking for some pumpkin butter recipes? Here are the links to the recipes I used--I made both kinds!

Oh She Glows: Pumpkin Butter (cooked version)
Pioneer Woman: Pumpkin Butter (non cook version)

Let me tell you--both recipes are sublime! I love spreading the pumpkiny goodness on my pitas, bread, and even dolloping it into my morning oatmeal--sooo good. There are also plenty of recipes that call for pumpkin butter. But...I'm afraid to make them in fear that it will entice the mysterious tight-pants monster to make a house call. It wouldn't be the first time! Unfortunately...I've met that monster!

Anyway...
