Poor Alexander

The other day, I got this in the mail:

Kinda funny looking, eh?

Since the little birds have been some of my bestsellers, I decided to buy a latex mold and cast them myself.  Today was the the trial run. I picked up some plaster of Paris and decided to make some birdies. Surprisingly, most of them turned out.  A few needed a little sanding to get them looking a little perkier and two of them have little indents on their head, but other than that, they turned out okay.  Well, I did have to re-attach one tail!

I filled them up with the plaster and they sat upside down for an hour to dry.  I created quite the the system! Old tissue box holder + old rag + upside bird = project plaster bird!

Hanging out!

Adorable!

I had one little birdie, Alexander, that got a little squished in the wrong places and will have to stay at home and live with me.

Here's Alexander:

Not quite making it!

Oops!  I fixed Alexander up a bit, and he's going to live on my nightstand.

He reminds me that even when things are a little wonky, Someone still redeems and loves us.

Bless the Lord, my soul!
Everything in me, bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, my soul,
And forget none of his benefits!
He forgives all your offenses,
He heals all your diseases,
He redeems your life from the pit,
He surrounds you with grace and compassion,
He contents you with good as long as you live,
So that your youth is renewed like an eagle’s.
Psalms 103:1-5
