Turny Ernie

Meet Turny Ernie before (and Mac's head):

Now, Turny Ernie was going to replace our current TV stand, but he was too tall.  So, I decided to paint him anyways and freshen him up.  Unfortunately, I painted him without priming.  Then, I put on a coat of polycrylic.  Guess what happened!!?  Ernie got yellow fever.  Yellow! Gross!  For me, frustration!  After Christmas (when I felt more like retackling him), I gave him a nice coat of black.  To be honest, Turny Ernie isn't my favorite--most likely because he's not really my style.  Or maybe it's because I liked him better with the pale blue/gray that I gave him first.  But, he had to go and get yellow on me.  What a rebel!

    i hate using polycrylic for that very reason- yellowing! i try to avoid it at all costs!!! ernie came out cute- the knobs are the crowning touch! :)

    That's interesting with the two colors. I like it. Maybe you could use it as a microwave stand, if it doesn't turn too easily.
