I'm Gobbly Cute!
A few weeks ago, one of my dearest friends, Lindsay, had a little baby girl named Evelyn Abi.  Since then, I've been wanting to make something personal and sweet for Evie.  Isn't her name darling?
Here's little Evie:
Here's little Evie:
Isn't she a doll?
Since Thanksgiving is upcoming, I decided to make her a little turkey onesie.
Here's what you need:
Wonder-web (that stuff that helps fabric adhere to fabric)
Fabric (I just gathered extras I had around the house)
Onesie
Iron
Template for tracing design
Scissors
First, gather all your materials into a big mess:
Well, that's what I did anyways!
Two: Cut out an oval shape for the turkey feathers and a pear-shape for its body.  Perhaps you can spot the little shapes among the mess!
Three: Cut a square out for each different feather and the turkey body.
Four: Place the squares on the rough side of the fabric wonder-web stuff.  The rough side and the wrong side of the fabric should be touching.  Iron the fabric onto the webbing.  I would be sure to read the directions for whatever fabric adhesive you buy.  It may very well be different than the kind I used!
Five: Once the paper has cooled, turn it around and trace the shape onto the paper.  Then cut it out.  Simple!
I seem to have a self-propelling scissors.  Really!  Why don't they make those?
Six: Well, my camera battery died at this moment so you'll have to use your imagination.  Here's the basic steps: peel the paper off of the fabric.  Place the fabric down how you want it to look.  Place a damp cloth over the design and press your iron down for about 10 to 15 seconds.  I did it a little extra to be sure.  That's about it!
Here's the final product!
So cute!  I was actually surprised that it turned out.  So many of my ideas look so much better in my head than they do in fruition!
And since I was having fun, I made a few more:
I love the apple!  I hand-stitched the edges for some extra fun :)
I hope that you enjoy them!  I'm excited to meet little Evie next week and bring these along as a little "welcome to the world" gift!
